Johns Creek Design + Build : Part 1 The Master Suite

When we were called to bid on an extensive window replacement for this homeowner, we had no idea it would turn into a design and remodel of (almost) the whole home. In an otherwise traditional upscale gated community, these worldly-wise and chic homeowners displayed an aesthetic more modern than their neighbors'. Danny, the architectural designer for Graystone, worked closely with the clients to transform their 1990's traditional home into the classy modern style they desired.

Because of the extent of the design and execution of the remodel, we will be sharing this project in parts.

Part 1: The Master Suite

When we removed the tub from the master bathroom, it wasn't replaced. Instead, the clients' wanted to display a piece of their artwork collection, which for right now is a large urn. The shower was replaced with custom niches, and the ceiling was redesigned with inset rope lighting for a soft effect. The tile floor pattern was extensively designed on paper so the pattern would be exact on the floor.

The fireplace centerpiece was designed by Danny to have a woven effect with wood and concrete hearth. It's elegant and warm and bring visual interest to the room. For the TV viewing area, Danny designed it so that all the components and wires were hidden behind panels, but that opened up during use. Function and beauty!

There were smiles and excited chatter around this finished first phase, and the next phase--the entry foyer and den--was almost immediately put on the schedule.
